Vapor Extraction

Soil Vapor Extraction (SVE) is used to treat the unsaturated (vadose) soil zone. A vacuum capable of producing a controlled flow of air through the pores is applied to the soil, thus removing the volatile and semi-volatile organic compounds. SVE is usually an in-situ remediation process, but it can be used as an ex-situ technique in some cases.
