BfU stands out in the environmental investigation of industrial sites, using international technology and experience, aiming at environmental liability evaluation, risks identification and providing information that serve as basis for an action plan.
Stages
- Preliminary evaluation of target areas - study of the historical use of the area and its surroundings;
- Gas Survey - subsurface soil evaluation through VOC (volatile organic compounds) measurements;
- Hydrogeological characterization - installation of monitoring wells, water sampling for chemical analysis, determination of hydraulic conductivity, etc.;
- Delimitation of the affected contaminated area;
- Mathematic modeling to evaluate the migration of the contamination plume;
- Environmental liability assessment.
The main results of the studies are the identification of affected areas and media; the qualification, quantification, and delimitation of the contamination through maps, profiles, and reports, complying with requirements and regulations of national and international environmental agencies.
